Abstract

1346139 Activation of fibre materials GLASSEIDENWERK OSCHATZ VEB 22 May 1972 23958/72 Headings D1B and D1P Fibres and filaments, e.g. glass, polyester, polyacrylonitrile and polyamide fibres are activated by passing through a plasma beam preferably at 10,000 to 30,000‹C and formed, e.g. by means of a gas burner, and treated with a monomeric, to polymeric organic compound and/or inorganic compound (as defined) before and/or during and/or after activation. Preferably the activated fibres are dyed in a dyebath or in a stream of dye solution to which crosslinking agents, plasticiser, and catalysts may be added. Ceramic, stone and rock fibre materials are also specified. Compounds may be used which improve hydrophilic properties, reduce electrostatic charging or provide better adhesion to synthetic resins.
