Abstract

Activation of solid surfaces (e.g. glass fibres, ceramic fibres, rock wool) esp. glass fibres, opt. mixed with organic fibres, by continuously passing through a plasma jet and applying monomers, polymers and/or mineral cpds. (e.g. silica, alumina, titania). Process may give the fibres increased hydrophilicity, reduced electrostatic charge; improved dye-receptivity. Fibres may be used for resin reinforcement.
