Abstract

1346136 Roller conveyers MOELLER & NEUMANN GmbH 22 April 1971 [22 April 1971] 18893/72 Heading B8A A rollerway system for feeding billets through a descaling station 2 and an ultrasonic test station 3 comprises groups of rollers 6, 13, respectively driven by pairs of motors 7, 8; 14, 15; and groups 9, 11, respectively driven by single motors 10, 12. All the motors are of the frequency controlled three-phase type and are speed controlled in unison by common means 16, 17, 18. To ensure that billets supplied from a station 1 are end-to-end by the time they pass through the station 2, the billets in a portion 8m of the roller group 6 are decelerated by providing rollers of smaller diameter than the rollers in the preceding portion 16m. The necessary spacing between the billets before they arrive at the station 3 is ensured by the motor 12, which drives the roller group 11 faster than motor 10 drives the group 9. Separation of the billets is further aided by driving the group 13 faster than the rollers of group 11. A cross-conveyer 4 transfers the billets to a rollerway 5 for delivery to a magnetic crack testing station or other station.
