Abstract

1346084 Insulators CERAVER 11 May 1971 14262/71 Heading H2C An insulator comprises two hollow open-ended elements 1, 2 of glass, the element 1 having an external necked portion 6 to receive a cable 7 held by binding 8, and an internal portion 5 which contains fibre-reinforced cement, examples of which are given. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, element 2 extends partially within element 1 and is secured thereto by the cement 3. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, the two elements are secured coaxially by means of a sleeve 14, and the element 2 is supported by a rod 11 on a post 9. The element 2 is spaced from the post by further cement 12 and a washer 10 which is of fibrous material, plastics material or metal.
