Abstract

980,329. Insulators. D. H. BEATTIE. Sept. 7, 1961 [Sept. 13, 1960; Oct. 4, 1960], No.32170/61. Heading H2C. An insulator for electric fences is formed from a block of insulating material and has a slot 2 enabling it to be fixed to a plane portion of a metal fencing standard, preferably by means of a bolt passing through holes 3. If the insulating material is pliable the insulator may be constructed so that the conductor may be easily removed by having a slot 9 leading from a hole 6 to the upper surface of the insulator. The slot 9 may be so shaped that the conductor may only be removed by lifting the conductor from one side before the other. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown) for more permanent fixing of conductors the slot 9 is omitted and the hole 6 may be lined with a wear-piece of harder material.
