1345882 Removing colour from hair MENNEN CO 24 May 1971 [25 May 1970] 40170/72 Divided out of 1345881 Heading D1P Colour is removed from hair which has been dyed, for example by the process of Specification 1,345,881, with an oxide or sulphide of a transition metal such as Mn, Fe, Co or Ni, by treating the hair with an agent which solubilizes the colouring material in water, the solubilizing agent being a reducing agent, e.g. an alkali metal bisulphite, sodium sulphite, sodium thiosulphate or sodium hydrosulphite, or a chelating agent, e.g. thiourea, EDTA or citric acid, When the colouring material is an oxide, and being a chelating agent when the colouring material is a sulphide. The decolorizers are employed in aqueous solution at pH 1.5-7.0 and at 10-40‹C.
