Abstract

1345881 Dyeing hair MENNEN CO 24 May 1971 [25 May 1970] 16612/71 Heading D1B Hair is dyed by treating with an aqueous solution containing a compound of a transition metal as defined, in which the metal is present in less than its highest valence state to deposit the compound on the hair and oxidising the compound to form a water-insoluble compound containing the metal in a higher valence state, preferred transition metal compounds are then of water-soluble manganous, cobaltous and ferrous compounds. The oxidising agents may be applied with the transition metal compound or afterwards examples being alkali metal salts of permanganates, perborates, persulphates, periodates, perphosphates, monopersulphates, periodic acid, H 2 O 2 and their mixtures.
