Abstract

1345496 Coke wharves/feeding conveyers HAMBURGER GASWERKE GmbH 7 Sept 1972 [15 Sept 1971] 41623/72 Addition to 1281654 Headings B8E B8A and B8S [Also in Division F4] A coke discharge machine 10 is movable along a coke wharf 1 on which batches of coke are stored for cooling, and has an actuator 16 for opening discharge gates 3 on the wharf to allow the coke to fall on to a conveyer 2, the machine carrying a thermal sensor 20 which, if the coke is too hot for discharge, deactuates the actuator 16 and causes water to be sprayed on to the coke. Each gate 3 is pivoted to the wharf 1 and has a member 7 which co-operates with an electromagnet 18 carried by the actuator 16. The machine 10 has wheels 11-13 running on rails secured to the wharf. A water trough 27 extends along the wharf and has a flexible slotted cover 28 through which projects a pipe 26 leading to a pump 25 and thence to a spray nozzle 23. A sensor 21 detects the presence of coke on the wharf to operate the actuator. During coke discharge, the gate adjacent the opened gate is oscillated to promote the flow of the coke on to the conveyer.
