1344812 Tubular heat exchange elements A BANNER & F BANNER 15 Sept 1972 42850/72 Addition to 1247429 Heading F4S In a protective insert sleeve of a waterswellable plastics material (e.g. hygroscopic nylon) having at one end an outwardly extending flange, the sleeve wall is of tapering thickness such that the fluid inlet area of the sleeve is from 30 to 70% of the outlet area. The sleeve may have a portion whose cross-sectional shape is non-circular to hold the sleeve in position when first inserted in the tube generally as described in Specification 1,249,596.
