Abstract

1,247,429. Tubular heat exchange elements. A. BANNER and F. BANNER. 23 Dec., 1969, No. 62605/69. Heading F4S. An insert for the fluid inlet of a condenser tube 3 comprises a cylindrical sleeve 1 flanged at one end and made of a water-swellable plastics material e.g. nylon. The insert is moulded so that when dry it is a close slide fit in the end of the tube, whereby in use, water passing through the tube is absorbed by the sleeve which swells in size slightly, but sufficiently so that it is gripped tightly within the tube.
