1344775 Oxidizing 1,1-bis-(alkyl-phenyl)- alkanes GULF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO 19 Jan 1972 2606/72 Heading C2C 1,1-Bis-(alkylphenyl) alkanes wherein the alkane bridge has from 2 to 16 carbon atoms are oxidized to convert the alkyl substituents to carboxylic acid substituents by contacting the 1,1-bis-(alkylphenyl) alkanes with molecular oxygen in a medium containing a carboxylic acid having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, a methylenic ketone and either metallic cobalt or a cobalt compound, in the absence of water.
