Abstract

1340612 α,#-Unsaturated ketones LEUNAWERKE WALTER ULBRICHT VEB 29 Jan 1971 3490/71 Addition to 1340611 Heading C2C α,# - Unsaturated ketones of the general formula wherein R 1 to R 4 represent identical or different groups, R 1 , R 2 and R 3 being a hydrogen atom or optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic groups, and R 4 being an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group, are prepared by reacting a ketone of the general formula with a compound of a platinum group metal in a bivalent or higher valency state in the presence of a peroxy compound between 30‹ and 160‹ C. Preferably between 1/100 and 1/1000 mol. of platinum group metal compound per mol. of ketone is used. The process may be carried out in a solvent, preferably t-butanol and the peroxy compound is preferably t-butylhydroperoxide but may also be hydrogen peroxide or 2-methylbutyl-2-hydro-peroxide.
