Abstract
1344651 Purifying phosphoric acid R A OETKER [trading as CHEMISCHE FABRIK BUDENHEIM RUDOLF A OETKER] 3 Nov 1971 [3 Nov 1970] 51038/71 Heading C1A Sulphate ions and cationic impurities are removed from commercial grade phosphoric acid by adding calcium and ammonium ions to the acid, the ammonium ions being introduced in a quantity of from 0À06 to 0À12 mols. of NH 3 per mole of P 2 O 5 , diluting the acid with an aliphatic alcohol which is miscible in any ratio with water and phosphoric acid and separating the precipitate formed. Water may be added to the so purified acid and the aliphatic alcohol may be removed from the solution of the acid and alcohol by distillation.
