Abstract
1337668 Purification of phosphoric acid R A OETKER [trading as CHEMISCHE FABRIK BUDENHEIM RUDOLF A OETKER] 8 Oct 1971 [12 Oct 1970] 46940/71 Heading C1A A water-soluble alcohol is added to commercial grade phosphoric acid in an amount of from 2 to 5 times the quantity in which the crude acid is present, the alcohol being added in the presence of ammonia or an ammonium compound in a quantity of from 0À06 to 0À12 mol NH 3 per mol of P 2 O 5 , the-deposit being separated and the alcohol distilled from the solution. The preferred alcohol is isopropanol. The process removes iron and aluminium impurities and also any titanium and calcium which may be present.
