Abstract
1344273 Photographic dye-developer diffusion transfer process EASTMAN KODAK CO 27 May 1971 [1 June 1970] 17627/71 Heading G2C A photographic dye-developer diffusion transfer process comprises imagewise exposing a photographic material comprising a support and a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer which contains a dye-developer or is contiguous to a layer containing a dyedeveloper, allowing an alkaline liquid that causes the dye-developer to develop the latent image to permeate the layers, allowing residual unoxidised dye-developer to transfer imagewise by diffusion and in register to a receiving layer and effecting development in the presence of a #-disulphone at a concentration such that the speed of the material is increased. The #- disulphone may have the formula: - wherein R 1 and R 2 are optionally substituted 1-4C alkyl and R 3 is H or optionally substituted 1-4C alkyl, and may be bis (methyl-or ethylsulphonyl) methane. The #-disulphone may be present in the photographic material, the alkali liquid or the receiving layer. The material may contain red-, green- and bluesensitive silver halide emulsion layers containing or contiguous to cyan, magenta and yellow dye-developers respectively. The alkaline liquid may contain sodium thiosulphate. The material may contain a dye image-receiving layer and a repturable container containing the alkaline liquid.
