Abstract

1344199 Knitting G BILLI & C SpA 19 April 1971 '[10 Feb 1970] 21096/71 Headings D1C and D1K A circular knitting machine, for knitting a spiral-form toe closure in which the first course of stitches is closed by a pulled draw thread, includes a hook 45 for pulling the yarn to a winding device 59 driven by a slipping friction clutch. The slipping clutch allows the device to take-up and release yarn cyclically as the point at which it is held in the fabric moves around the needle circle. Hook 45 is at one end of a rod 43 operated by a piston 41 and is supported by a guide 51 borne by rods 47. The hooked rod and its controls are mounted on a block 39, which can be withdrawn along a support 25. The winding device 59 is driven from a gear 55 engaging gear 65 provided with a hub 63. Slots 63 in the hub the outer two of three rings 93. The rings are pressed together by a ring 91 urged upwards by springs 71. A disc 75, against which the yarn can be trapped, is therefore slippingly driven by the central disc 93. An upper disc 93 supported by guide rods 77 can be raised against the action of spring 83 by a piston 85. Yarn is clamped between the two discs.
