Abstract

1344136 Limiters GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 19 April 1971 [20 March 1970] 24605/71 Heading H3T [Also in Division G3] An arrangement operating as a limiter with adjustable limiting level comprises a pair of terminals 2, 3, to which the voltage to be limited is applied, across which is connected the collector to emitter path of a transistor 9. Transistor 9 is connected as a Darlington pair with transistor 5, the base of which is connected by means of a resistor 13 to the terminal 3, and by way of a Zener diode 15 to the centre point 17 of a potentiometer comprising resistors 18, 19 connected across the terminals 2, 3. The resistors 18, 19 may be replaced by an adjustable potentiometer (Fig. 1A, not shown). In a modification, the Darlington pair is replaced by a single transistor, and an emitter follower is connected between the potentiometer centre point and the Zener diode (Fig. 4, not shown). The Specification also discloses integrated circuit constructions of the arrangements of Figs. 1, 4 (Figs. 3, 5, not shown).
