Abstract

1343974 Laminates INMONT CORP 19 April 1971 [2 Feb 1970] 20472/71 Heading B5N A laminate comprises a thermoformed, thermoplastic film carrying a pattern thereon, said film being transparent in non-patterned areas and an in situ foamed plastics material underlying and affixed to the film, a colour contrasting with that of the pattern being applied to the film or incorporated in the foam which is visible through the transparent areas of the film so that the laminate simulates wood grain, marble or gold leaf. The film may be of cellulose acetate butyrate, cellulose acetate vinyls, acrylics or polyester and the foam is suitably polyurethane or polyester. The laminate may be made by heating the film and deep drawing it into a mould, filling the mould with a foamable liquid and allowing the liquid to foam and set.
