Abstract

1424327 Moulding foam articles KAYMETZELER Ltd 10 July 1973 [11 July 1972] 32264/72 Heading B5A In a method of producing foamed articles, e.g. packaging materials, polystyrene particles are admixed with particles of scrap polyurethane foam, and the mixture steam heated in a mould to form a coherent mass. The polystyrene may be expanded or non-expanded beads or scrap. Instead of polyurethane foam, particles of sponge rubber, or polyvinyl chloride foam may be used. Either or both of the particulate materials may be coated with an adhesive such as polyurethane prepolymer or acrylic resin before moulding. The use of polyurethane or other foam particles facilitates passage of steam through the mixture in the mould.
