Abstract

1,087,944. Moulding cellular articles. CABIN CRAFTS Inc. April 28, 1965, No. 30265/66. Divided out of 1,087,943. Heading B5A. Fabric backed foamed plastics articles, e.g. car mats, are produced by locating the fabric in the mould and then introducing the foaming mixture into the mould and effecting foaming and curing. The fabric is held on the surface of the male mould member 2, Fig. 2, by straight or curved pins. The surface of the female mould element 3 is treated with a release agent and a layer of foaming mixture is distributed thereon so that when the mould is closed there is a space between the mixture and the fabric. As the foam expands a skin forms on the surface and acts as adhesive to bond the foam layer to the fabric. The mould is then heated to cure the foam.
