Abstract

1343963 Testing granular material PROCTER & GAMBLE Ltd 17 Nov 1971 53474/71 Heading G1S A granular material such as an enzymic detergent is tested by allowing it to fall from a hopper 2 through a slide valve 3 into an enclosure 1, passing a stream of air through the falling material, and collecting any dust entrained in the air stream on a filter 6. The air stream is produced by a suction fan 8 and prefiltered by filters 22. A valve 21 allows the air flow in the enclosure to be regulated and an orifice plate 19 in association with manometer 20 allows the rate of air flow to be measured. The amount of dust collected is measured by weighing and chemical tests may also be carried out.
