Abstract

1343649 Testing pipes FRIEDRICH KOCKS 10 May 1971 [27 May 1970] 13953/71 Heading G1S A clamping insert for a clamping and sealing head of a pipe tester comprises, a pressure collar 1, Fig. 1, of a highly resilient material, a clamping bush 4 formed of segments 5, see also Fig. 2, with gaps 6 therebetween, inserts 7 of springy metal which expand and urge the bush 4 against the inside wall of the collar 1, and masking parts 8 which are non-resilient and prevent parts of the collar 1 from being squeezed into the gaps between the segments 5 and consequent failure of the test. A modification, Fig. 4, has flat strip masking parts 14 recessed into the segments 5.
