Abstract
1342331 Overhead conveyer SUCMANU 3 May 1972 [30 June 1971] 20495/72 Heading B7L An overhead conveyer comprises two rails 1 held in juxtaposition by supports 2, each rail 1 having a bearing surface 3 and a guiding surface 5 for receiving bearing rollers 4 and guide rollers 6 of a load carrier respectively, guiding surface 5 being perpendicular to bearing surface 3 and each rail having a groove 10 extending therealong and opening at a face 11 of the part of the rail which forms the guiding surface 5, this face 11 being remote from the guiding surface 5 and the groove 10 being wider near the guiding surface 5 than at the opening. Bolts 29A are received by the supports 2 and have heads which are engaged in the grooves 10, the shape of the heads being such that they can be entered into a groove 10 in a direction at right angles to the length of the groove and rotated into a position in which they cannot be withdrawn in this direction. The groove 10 may be of dovetailed cross-section, Fig. 4, or T-shaped, Fig. 3 (not shown) and Figs. 4 and 7, and may be formed in a protuberance 12 extending longitudinally of the rail, Figs. 5 and 7. The general shape of the rail 1 may be rectangular, Fig. 3 (not shown) and Fig. 4, L-shaped, Fig. 5, or U-shaped, Fig. 7. Each support 2 comprises a crosspiece 22 carrying two downwardly extending limbs 23, the extremity 24 of each of which has two mutually perpendicular faces 27 and 28 which engage a rail 1 and also has a slot 29. The slot 29 and groove 10 receive a bolt 29A having a head shaped similarly to the groove so as to secure the rail 1 to the support 2. Curved rails 1 are each provided with a rectilinear portion at each end of the curved portion, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown). Two abutting rails are connected by supports 2 extended in the longitudinal direction of the rails so as to include a second slot 29. A switch element, Fig. 11, comprises a block 38 having a bearing surface 42 and two vertical guiding surface 45 and 41 continuous with the corresponding surfaces of a straight rail 44 and curved rail 39.
