1341457 Spring upholstery WEBSTER SPRING CO Inc 19 Nov 1971 53859/71 Heading A4M A spring assembly comprises a plurality of coil springs 12 with upper end loops 28 seated against and secured to a grid 10 comprising a rectangular border wire 16, 18 spanned by spaced pairs of longitudinally and transversely extending wires 22, 20 together defining at their intersections rectangular seats for the springs 12, the wires 20 of at least one act being formed with spaced, trapezium-shaped depressions 24 which wedge into the end loops 28 and are secured thereto by locking wires or straps 32 which are passed between the end loops 28 and the bottoms 24b of the depressions 24. In modifications the depressions 24 are provided in both sets of wires and locking wires 32 may be engaged with one or both sets of depressions. In another embodiment, Fig. 13, trapezium-shaped depressions 48 are formed in one set of wires 46 and pairs of depressions'52 are formed in the other set of wires 50.
