Abstract

1341286 Delivering sheets XEROX CORP 19 April 1971 [9 Feb 1970] 21058/71 Heading B8R Documents are delivered from a sheethandling machine by belts 37, Fig. 1, and sorted into inclined trays 24 arranged in vertical array in modules 12, 14, each module comprising a belt conveyer 54 and deflectors 80 for carrying a document into a selected tray on the upward run of the conveyer 54, a conveyer 22 for carrying documents from one module to the next, and means for directing a document at the bottom of a conveyer 54 either along the converyer 22 or along the upward run of the conveyer 54. Each conveyer 54 is supported at its upper end on a shaft 59, Figs. 1 and 4, resting in cam track openings 112 in cam plates 110, and at its lower end on a hollow shaft in which is received a rod 107 secured to a pair of cam members 115 having flattened portions 121, 123 and rotatable by a lever arm 130 in circular apertures 120, each having a flat portion 125, in cam plates 118, about an axis eccentric to the rod 107. Rotation of the arm 130 to engage the portions 121, 125 causes the conveyer to swing away from the trays, and to be raised by the tracks 112, to facilitate correction of sheet jams.
