Abstract

1340959 Treating fabrics on looms CARRINGTON & DEWHURST Ltd 13 June 1972 [23 June 1971] 29482/71 Heading D1E A jet loom has means to dry the fabric. The fabric 44 passes over a suction tube 30, excess moisture running down a shield 26 into a drip tray 28, around nip rollers 34, 32, 36 and then over a heater 16. The heater 16 may be an electric radiant heater with a perforated reflector 16 to provide convection as well as radiation or may be a force draught hot air heater. The heater may be coupled to the loom control so that it is automatically switched off on loom stoppage to avoid damaging the fabric. Fabrics which require less drying may by-pass the heater and be heated only by the rollers 32, 34, 36. (For Figure see next column)
