Abstract

1340501 Tables; furniture joints CIANCIMINO DESIGN Ltd 19 April 1971 [21 April 1970] 19121/70 Heading A4H An article of furniture, e.g. a table, is formed from vertical posts 6 and horizontal longitudinal elements 4 at one or more levels inter-connected by connectors 9, each post having two, three, four or five longitudinally extending equiangularly spaced reentrant ribs 7, and each connector 9 having a recess 10a that slideably co-operates with a rib 7 and a spigot 11 inserted in the tubular end of an element 4, the connector 9 being secured against movement along the rib 7 by screw(s) 12 extending through a threaded aperture in connector 9 and engaging rib 7, and the element 4 being secured to connector 9 by a screw 13 extending through a hole 14 in element 4 and engaging a threaded hole 15 in the spigot 11. Brackets (16), Fig. 1, (not shown) on elements 4 or hemispherical rubber bushes on the upper ends of the posts support three, four or five-sided glass plates (17). The posts may be hollow for wiring for lighting. The elements 4 may be curved in a horizontal plane. The posts 6 and elements 4 comprise aluminium.
