Abstract
1340471 Discharging static electricity UARCO Inc 10 Aug 1972 [15 Oct 1971] 37346/72 Heading H1X A static eliminator comprises a sandwich 10 of alternate conductive and insulating members, each conductive member 22, 24, 26 having a plurality of discharge points 36 which are staggered relative to the discharge points of adjacent conductive members. To provide a precise control of the spacing between the rows of points 36 the insulating members are slightly curved so that the conductive members are slightly distorted from their original planar form and the points 36 of a conductor are all forced against the same insulating member. The position of the insulating members relative to each other is maintained by a system of steps, platforms and projections 50, 48, 52. The position of each conductive member relative to an insulating member is determined by a tab bent out of the plane of the conductor and engaging a groove 42 in the insulating member. The sandwich 10 is secured in a channel 54 of a base 12 by a screw 66 thus enabling additional members to be added to the sandwich. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 4, not shown), the screw 66 is replaced by a fixed abutment.
