Abstract
1340187 Determining gas content of sample MECTRON (FRIGISTOR) Ltd 14 March 1972 [14 Dec 1970] 59219/70 Heading B1X An apparatus for the determination of gas in a material specimen comprises a first chamber to receive the specimen, means for heating the specimen within said first chamber and a second chamber for a carrier gas separated from said first chamber by means for selectively filtering gas evolved from the specimen. When the gas evolved is hydrogen the selective filter may be steel. As shown, a sample 23 surrounded by carbon heating elements 10 evolves hydrogen gas which passes through the steel shell 24. A carrier gas is passed through the space between the outside of shell 24 and silica tube 30 surrounding it; the hydrogen is swept away by the carrier gas and determined for example by thermal conductivity measurements.
