Abstract

1340171 Electric couplings W PFISTERER 13 Jan 1972 [16 Jan 1971] 1672/72 Heading H2E A terminal for connecting electrical connectors to each other consists of at least two body parts 21, 22, at least one of which is electrically held together to form a sleeve by at least one connecting element 26 which is in the shape of a C-clip and which is squeezed on to lugs 24, 25, e.g. in a press. To undo the connection, the clips are cut through. In one embodiment the terminal body parts are integral with a sleeve (23), Fig. 3 (not shown), which receives a stranded conductor 29 whilst the parts 21, 22 clamp round a connecting pin 20. In alternative embodiments, two cables are connected to a single pin (Fig. 5, not shown), or a T-junction may be made (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown). A connection may also be made between e.g. a branch cable 59 and two main cables 50 (Fig. 9), in which case an intermediate member 51, shaped to receive conductors 50, 50 is electrically connected (e.g. by welding or by means of a threaded stud and bore) to sleeve 53 which receives conductor 59. Clips 55, 56 hold together terminal body parts (here numbered 52) as described, one pair to each side of the sleeve 53 (Fig. 8, not shown). Each body part is provided with ribs 54 for strengthening. If the branching conductor consists of twin cables, or if it is difficult to connect the branch sleeve to the intermediate member, an arrangement as in Fig. 11 (not shown) may be used, in which the intermediate member 61 has two straight portions at right angles, one of which carries the main conductors (60) and the other of which carries the branch conductors.
