Abstract
1339742 Friction materials DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 19 April 1971 [19 March 1970] 13239/70 Heading C3R [Also in Division C7] A friction material is formed by mixing a powdered matrix material comprising a polymer, such as phenol-formaldehyde or phosphonitrillic chloride resin, with ferro-tungsten alloy and friction modifying agents, compacting the mixture and sintering in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. The friction modifying agents are selected from silicon nitride, graphite or other forms of carbon, molybdenum, metal sulphides, metal borides, carbon boride, metal phosphides, silica, magnesite, aluminium orthophosphate, magnesium pyrophosphate, manganese pyrophosphate and inorganic fibrous materials.
