Abstract

1339504 Platform elevators; side loaders C & M MFG CO Inc 23 April 1971 11069/71 Heading B8H A warehousing stacker vehicle 1 comprises a base frame 2 mounted on rollers 4, two masts 10 mounted on the frame 2 each having a mast portion 26 which is movable by means of hydraulic rams 70, a carriage 40 movably mounted on the mast portions 26 for relative movement thereto, load engaging forks 62 mounted on a fork support 60 which is movable along the I-beams 54 of a frame 52, the forks 62 being movable relative to the fork support 60, the frame 52 being movable relative to the carriage 40 by means of an hydraulic cylinder (50), Fig. 5 (not shown). In use the vehicle 1 is stopped in an aisle alongside a rack structure containing pallets which are to be engaged by means of the forks 62, the frame 52 is moved towards the rack by means of the cylinder (50) and on engagement therewith a sensor 58 located on the frame 52 is depressed and causes actuation of an hydraulic motor 132 which is mounted on the fork support 60 which drives a sprocket 134 which is in engagement with a rack 136 integrally formed on the frame 52 causing the sprocket 134, motor 132 and fork support 60 to move across the frame 52 towards the rack. A second hydraulic motor 118 is connected to a sprocket 124 mounted centrally on a shaft at whose ends are pinions 128 which engage racks (130), Fig. 2 (not shown), located on the bottom of each of the forks 62, and on operation of the said motor 118 the forks 62 can be moved linearly relative to and through the fork support 60. If the hydraulic motor 118 is not actuated the fork support 60 carries the forks 62 therewith on actuation of the hydraulic motor 132. However, the valves supplying fluid to the two hydraulic motors 118, 132 are interconnected so that it is possible to actuate the said two motors simultaneously such that the forks 62 can be moved relative to the fork support 60 in a direction opposite to the movement of the said fork support 60 relative to the frame 52.
