Abstract

The mechanism slews the forks in relation to the travel direction, having forks (21, 22) slewing on one or more vertical axes (44, 45) on a support (26) fixed to the truck lifting mechanism. Means are included, typically hydraulic rams (60), to regulate the slewing movement. The ram can be mounted on the side of the support, while each fork slews on a vertical axis in front of the support and at each end of it. Functioning of the ram is such that the forks are kept parallel to each other. Alternatively the fork assembly can slew together about a single central axis on the support.
