Abstract
1339463 Treating carbon articles to increase initial oxidation temperature SADECKIE ZAKLADY ELEKTRO-NEGLOWE 8 Oct 1971 [10 Oct 1970] 46919/71 Heading D1P The initial oxidation temperature of a carbon e.g. graphite article is increased by impregnating the article with an aqueous solution containing a copper compound e.g. copper nitrate or copper sulphate, a zinc compound e.g. ZnO and phosphoric acid. The composition may also include a water-soluble or a phosphoric acid-soluble aluminium compound e.g. aluminium sulphate or aluminium oxide. The article may be heated to 150-350‹C before impregnation or be subjected to vacuum or superpressure during impregnation. The impregnated material is dried at 100-350‹C. The treating solution may be heated.
