Abstract

1339161 Two-part couplings MALCO MFG CO Inc 13 May 1971 [8 June 1970] 14812/71 Heading H2E A ground connector assembly 40 comprises a connector pin 70 electrically connected to a metal plate 11, the pin having a contact 30 on one end and a wire-wrap part 71 at the other end. The connector pin has a rectangular shank 74 which fits closely in a cylindrical aperture 75 in the metal plate and has a thread 80 at one end. Adjacent the shank and located between sheared portions 90 are shoulders 85 which are bent at right angles to the shank. Upon tightening a locking nut 96 on the thread 80, sharp tips 95 of the shoulders dig into the metal plate to establish electrical contact. The shoulders position the contact 30 in a square cavity 65 in an insulating block so that the contact may be engaged by the circuitry of a printed circuit board inserted into the cavity. A second embodiment (Fig. 7, not shown) has two sets of shoulders (185a, 185b) extending in opposite directions. In a third embodiment the cavity has an oblong cross-section and the shoulders (285, Fig. 10, not shown) are not bent with respect to the shank. A fourth embodiment has no contact 30, connecting only a wire to the metal plate. A final embodiment, Fig. 14, not shown, comprises a bifurcated contact (474) having at its base teeth (495) to dig into the metal plate and barbs (496) to hold the insulating block (421) on the plate.
