Abstract
1339118 Insulated pipes KABLE-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 15 Aug 1972 [19 Aug 1971] 38016/72 Addition to 1277865 Heading F2P In the method of making an insulated pipe in accordance with Specification 1,277,865, (wherein a spiral spacer is formed about a metal pipe, a strip extending longitudinally of the pipe is formed into a split tube around the spacer, a self foaming synthetic resin is introduced into the split tube, and the edges of the split tube are joined together), the strip of which the split tube is made is of copolymer material at least on the side facing the foaming synthetic resin and is adhesively bonded thereto. The foil strip is preferably wholly copolymer but may have one face coated with copolymer. As described the bonding is by heat softening of the foil strip either by exothermic reaction of the foaming mixture or by the application of hot rolls. Materials.-The inner pipe is of metal (e.g. copper); the foam may be polyurethane; the foil strip may be of, or comprise, an ethylene copolymer, and may be pigmented or painted to render it opaque.
