Abstract

1338286 Stud and socket fastenings PAPIERWERKE WALDHOF - ASCHAFFENBURG AG 22 Nov 1971 [24 Nov 1970] 54110/71 Heading E2B A plastics stud and socket fastening comprises a female part 11 for attachment to an apertured article, and a male part 18 insertable into a bore through the female part wherein one end face of the female part forms an angle of less than 90‹ with the surface of the bore providing an edge, e.g. a knife edge, for sealing engagement with the male portion. The female portion 11 has flanges 12 and 14 and the male portion has a frusto conical portion 20 at one end and a flange at the other end for engaging the female portion. In one modification the bore of the female portion is concave and in another modification, Fig. 3, the male portion has a frusto conical groove 38 and the end surfaces of the flanges of the female portion incline outwardly to provide the edges which engage the male portion. The flange 12 may be secured round an aperture in a container 13.
