Abstract

1338255 Stud-and-socket fastenings D A WEMYSS 2 July 1971 [3 April 1970 14 Aug 1970] 15862/70 and 32916/70 Heading E2B [Also in Division F2] Telescopically interfitting tubes 10, 12, Fig. 1, are each of oval section so that they jam together when mutually rotated. In addition a collet 14 is rotatable on tube 12 (as shown by a thread, but alternatively, Fig. 5, not shown, by a rim) and likewise grips the tube 10 when rotated, preferably in the same sense as the tube 12. In a modification, Fig. 6, the gripping portion 20 of the collet is keyed to a spring-loaded indexing ring 22. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the collet 34 is screwed inside a sleeve 35 in which the tube 32 is a press-fit, this sleeve may have additional fitments 36, 38 or several such collet connectors.
