Abstract
1338221 Electro-chemical machining INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO Ltd 4 Dec 1970 [8 Sept 1969] 44207/69 Heading C7B A workpiece at least part of which is submerged in e.g. sea water is machined or cleaned by a rotating electrode 2 which is movable towards and away from the workpiece, and has vanes 11 for forcing the electrolyte through the gap between the electrode and the workpiece. The electrode may be supported against the workpiece by arms 7 pivoted to magnet 8. The electrode comprises non-conductive abrasive particles e.g. diamond or tungsten carbide in a conductive matrix of e.g. copper or nickel. The electrode is rotated by an air-operated turbine.
