Abstract

1337555 Motor vehicle chassis DAIMLERBENZ AG 4 April 1972 [8 April 1971] 15388/72 Heading B7D A motor vehicle chassis comprises separate front and rear sections 1, 2 each forming a structural group including frame parts and an axle together with respective controlling and propulsion assemblies and devices, coupling means 3 being provided at free ends 5 of the frame parts so that the sections 1, 2 can be connected together to form a temporary selfpropelled steerable vehicle unit for shipping purposes, the coupling means 3 being subsequently releasable to permit the introduction of a middle section. The coupling means 3 comprise gusset plates 6 pre-mounted on the frame of one section and releasably bolted to the other. The gusset plates 6 have bent over edges which engage around the end 5 of the frame to facilitate assembly. Further coupling elements 4 connect the controls to the propulsion unit and brakes.
