Abstract

1337325 Electrostatic image developers A B DICK CO 25 May 1971 [25 May 1970] 17033/71 Headings C3P and C3Q Toner concentrates for use with compatible carriers to provide liquid developer compositions for reversal toning of latent electrostatic images carriers to provide liquid developer compositions comprise (1) pigment particles, (2) a heatreactive hydrocarbon resin binder, (3) a liquid diluent having a high volume resistivity and (4) a phospholipid. The pigment may be carbon black or a dyestuff, and may be added as a rubber base dispersion, e.g. containing cyclized rubber, in a high boiling solvent. The binder may be a heat-reactive cyclopentadiene resin derived from petroleum fractions. The diluent may be a paraffinic or aromatic hydrocarbon. The preferred phospholipid is lecithin. The preferred carriers are aliphatic hydrocarbons. Examples describe concentrates comprising hydrocarbon resin, lecithin, paraffin oil and xylene together with (1) carbon black and (2) a dispersion of carbon black and cyclized rubber in a solvent, the products being diluted with aliphatic hydrocarbons.
