Abstract

1337133 Valves R A WEBBER Ltd 29 Dec 1971 [31 Dec 1970] 61987/70 Heading F2V [Also in Division H1] In a solenoid valve for liquids or gases having relatively movable bobbin 13 and armature 16 to control flow through at least one valve orifice, and at least one longitudinal balancing duct 42 communicating the spaces at opposite ends of the armature, the duct or ducts 42 are formed mainly or wholly in the material of the core of the bobbin. A wall or liner 41 is provided in the core to form a tunnel in which the armature is received. Contrary to the arrangement shown, the ducts 42 may be located in the radially outer surface of the core. The valve shown is of the three-way type having connections 36, 44, 45 and two valve seats 39, 46 respectively associated with valve heads 40, 47 located in vented cavity 49 in the armature. Alternatively, the valve may be of the two-way type with passage 38 and seat 39 omitted. The assembly of polepieces 11, 12, bobbin 13, winding 14 and cylindrical yoke or cage 15 is mounted within a shell 10 and may be encapsulated therein by introducing hard-setting synthetic resin through an aperture 26 subsequently sealed by an insulating cover 27.
