Abstract
1337126 Printing apparatus EASTMAN KODAK CO 4 Dec 1970 [5 Dec 1969] 57748/70 Heading B6C A developed electrostatic image, produced by application of a toner, is transferred from a photo-conductive member P to paper 32 on a travelling arcuate impression member T by a rolling contact of the members P and T which is controlled by a cam surface 58. The impression member T is rotated anticlockwise as it moves from left to right by engagement of a gear 38 with a rack 40 and normally rotates at a speed imposed by the gear 38. When a cam follower 60 on the impression member T contacts the cam surface 58 a friction coupling between two gears connecting the gear 38 to the member T is forced to slip, so that the member T rotates at a slower speed than was previously given to it by the gear 38. Preferably the paper 32 is presented to a succession of photo-conductive members P, P<SP>1</SP>, P<SP>11</SP> and these print in different colours. An electric potential may be applied to assist toner transfer, and may increase at each transfer. (For Figure see next page.)
