Abstract

1337059 Mobile scaffold SEIWA KIKO CO Ltd 10 Nov 1971 52244/71 Heading E1S A scaffold traversable horizontally along a rail 13 on a wall, for working on ships in dock, comprises a motor-driven carriage 1 having rollers 7, 8 running along the rail 13, a cantilever arm 2 pivotally mounted on the carriage about both vertical and horizontal axes, and a platform 5 pivotally mounted on the free end of the cantilever arm and coupled by links 2" to the carriage so that the platform remains horizontal at any inclination of the cantilever arm. A downward extension 1' of the carriage also has rollers 9 engaging the wall, and supports a vertical swivel 10 which carries the cantilever arm 2 by a horizontal pivot 2', pivoting movement being effected by hydraulic rams 4, 3 connected between the carriage and swivel, and the swivel and cantilever arm, respectively. A work cradle 6 is rotatably mounted on the platform 5.
