Abstract

1336861 Discharging hoppers K CALDWELL and J E S COOKE 19 April 1971 [28 Feb 1970] 9803/70 Heading B8S To aid the discharge of comminuted materials, a hopper 1 is provided with an inflatable lining 2 having a number of zones 3 on the form of rings. The lining may be of rubber or plastics and may be protected by metal plates 8. Extensions 4 enable the lining to be removably hung from the hopper. A tube 5 connected to each zone provides a feed for gas, e.g. air or an inert gas. In use, zones a, c, e may be inflated and deflated and then zones b, d. By providing a rotary air jet distributer one zone at a time is inflated and deflated. Switching the gas on and off rapidly causes the lining to vibrate. Alternatively, by providing an exhaust tube in each zone, the resulting air movement causes vibration.
