Abstract

1336401 Sewing machines CENTRE D'ETUDES TECHNIQUES DES INDUSTRIES DE L'HABILLEMENT 7 Jan 1972 [11 Jaw 1971] 880/72 Heading D1G [Also in Divisions B5 and F2] A device for folding-over the edge 2 of a piece of material 1 e.g. a tubular garment, comprises three rollers to support the material and two folding-arms 15, 16. The edge 9 of the material is placed against a lateral guide 14 formed as a raised part of a roller 12, and a folding arm 15 is moved forward by a piston 62 to behind the material (Fig. 6, not shown). A cam groove 64 guides a lug 65 attached to the folding arm, and causes the arm to rotate forward through 90‹, causing the edge of the material to fold over (Fig. 7, not shown). The arm continues to move forward until the nose 16A holds the material in the fork in arm 15. The material is moving during this time, being driven by one roller 11 which is driven by an electric motor through a clutch. When the fold has been made all round the material the clutch disengages and the seam is sealed by a sewing machine 4 or by gluing or welding. The third (bottom) roller is adjustable pneumatically to tension or release the tubular garment (Fig. 2, not shown).
