1336242 Knitting machines PRECISION FUKUHARA WORKS Ltd 19 Jan 1971 [21 Jan 1970] 2651/71 Heading D1C A circular knitting machine has jacks 61a, 62a, 63a formed integrally with the needles 61, 62, 63 and having two series of control butts 66, 67, 68 and 66a, 67a, 68a at differing heights at each of two levels acted on by two sets of cams each of which constitutes a unit 28, 29 which comprises a vertical series of rectangular cam blocks 31 each carrying a jack cam and having a vertical key way 31a, the key ways 31a of each unit being aligned with one another and being engaged loosely by a key 26 on which they are transversely movable between operative and inoperative position. As shown a circular knitting machine, comprises, mounted side-by-side, housings 22 each having a channel in which is releasably secured a key 26 whose reduced part 26b retains the units 28, 29 separated by a spacer block 30. Blocks 31 can be reversed key ways 31b of groups 28, 29 respectively fit keys 32a, 33a projecting from plates 32, 33 which carry respectively a pin 34 and a screw 35 which engage slots 38a, 38b in lever 38 pivoted on pin 39. Pin 39 extends through housing 22 lever 38 and strap 40 and has secured to its end a spring 41 lying in a cut out 42 in strap 40. Spring 41 biasses detent balls 44, 44 through apertures in cut out 42 into engagement with depressions in lever 38 in one of two positions. A slot in a block 36 secured to plate 33 is engaged by a pin 46 in an arm 47 journalled on a shaft 48 also carrying an arm 49 through which a screw 51 can be passed to engage arm 47. When screw 51 is in place, arm 47 moves with shaft 41. Arm 47 moves plate 33 back and forth which, at the same time, moves plate 32 through lever 38. Shaft 48 has, keyed on its lower end, the upper end of a pin 53 carried in a plate 52 and secured to a cam 54 which is engaged by radially spaced pins 56, 57 operated by a chain controlled mechanism to pivot it and hence operate the mechanism to place one or other set of cams in operation.
