Abstract

1335995 Developing apparatus XEROX CORP 21 Dec 1970 [30 Dec 1969] 60539/70 Heading G2H A web 11 is fed upwards past a developer trough 19, a stylus 21 forms an electrostatic latent image thereon, and an oscillating magnet 24 throws up developer from trough 19 to develop the image simultaneously with its formation. The invention may also be applied to a photo-conductive drum or web which is charged and exposed. As shown, stylus 21 reciprocates across web 11 and pulses are applied to the stylus and a non-magnetic backing plate 22. The stylus may actuate a switch to control magnet oscillation. Alternatively a pin 29 on the magnetic shaft alternately strikes stops 31, 32 to stall the magnets drive motor and cause drive reversal. One or more electromagnets may replace magnet 24.
