Abstract

1335445 Pallets SATCO Inc 19 April 1971 [22 Jan 1970] 20885/71 Heading B8H A cargo supporting pallet comprises a rectangular panel having a central flexible portion and a surrounding marginal portion having less flexibility and being provided with sockets for engagement with cargo retaining fittings. The centre portion which is formed from a single sheet is rendered flexible by reducing its thickness relative to the margin and is formed from one piece of material which may be integral with the marginal portion or may be riveted to a separate marginal portion, which itself may be constructed as four side pieces connected together at their corners. In the embodiment of Fig. 25 (not shown), projections of the same thickness as the margin extend from the marginal portion inwardly of the panel to increase rigidity. The sockets provided around the marginal portion of the panel comprise circular apertures into which retaining stud heads can be inserted whereafter they are slid along such that the heads are locked under flanges adjacent the apertures. The apertures and flanges may be formed either integrally with the panel, or between a recess in the panel and an apertured plate secured thereover, or entirely by a raised apertured plate secured to the panel, the sockets being provided on one or both faces of the panel.
