Abstract

1334333 Ball and socket joint ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 24 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 13976/72 Heading E2F A ball and socket joint for a vehicle windscreen wiper linkage comprises a socket 20 of plastics material adapted to be inserted into an aperture 13a in a linkage 13 and having an opening defined by a resiliently deformable collar 20c, and a ball 17 comprising a partspherical cap 17c, rotatably journalled on a metal pin 17a adapted to be secured to a linkage. 12, and able to be inserted in the opening in the socket, the socket-contacting part of the cap being of plastics material of different coefficient of friction to that of the socket. The joint is protected from dirt by an integral cap 20a and a washer 21; or the cap 20a may be replaced by a separate cap (32), Fig. 3 (not shown) held by a spring washer (18'), or be replaced by a further washer (45), Fig. 4 (not shown).
